  How do I scan a QR code to view an asset or location?

  QR codes can be used to quickly open the relevant asset, equipment, or location record without manually searching for it.

  To scan a QR code:

  1. Open the QR code scanner in the HKCEC CAFM app.
  2. Allow the app to access your device camera when prompted.
  3. Point the camera at the QR code.
  4. Keep the QR code inside the scanning area until it is recognised.
  5. The related asset or location record will open automatically.

  If the QR code cannot be scanned:

  • Clean the camera lens.
  • Make sure the QR code is clearly visible and not damaged.
  • Improve the lighting around the QR code.
  • Move the device slightly closer to or farther away from the code.
  • Confirm that camera permission has been enabled for the app.
  • Search for the asset manually using its asset name, asset number, or location.

  If the QR code opens an incorrect record, report the issue to the system administrator and provide the location and a photograph of the QR label.
